This summer, June 3-6, a group of nineteen people traveled to St. Louis on mission. We partnered with Kingshighway Baptist Church and helped with painting part of their facilities as well as hosting a block party as an outreach to the community.
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20) The Great Commission provides our marching orders in service to God. It's a call for every member of God's family. We all have other life tasks, but our primary work is to fulfill the Great Commission – in our home, in our personal life, in our neighborhood, in our workplace, in our community, wherever we find ourselves. We have been entrusted to share the Good News of Christ! At First Baptist Jenks, we have a tri-focal emphasis on missions. Our local mission’s emphasis is facilitated through our Bible Fellowship Classes. Each class is called upon to actively pursue areas of need within Jenks and the Tulsa Metro area. With this approach, we are able to impact our community in a variety of ways. Nationally, we have partnered with Abundant Grace Community Church, located near downtown Dallas. Our focus is to come alongside their work and do whatever we can to assist them in reaching their community. Typically we have 2-4 overnight trips a year, which allows for many of our members to get involved. Internationally, we have partnered with a friend in Central-East Europe. Through the International Mission Board, we are in our 2nd year of a 3-5 year partnership working with a specific neighborhood. We have also been involved with Medical Missions in Nicaragua, sending teams the past 4 years to share Christ with people in great need. We're excited about the missions and evangelism ministries we have in place to share the love of Christ through people just like you – people who want to make an eternal difference with their lives. The opportunities to serve are limitless! We encourage you to prayerfully consider how God can use you. |
